Metal-on-Metal Total Hip
Replacement
| |
|
| Wright is a well
established orthopaedic company with a distinguished track
record in the field of total hip replacement. Through advances
in implant technology and constant improvement in surgical
techniques, Wright is continually working to create products
designed to significantly improve the lives of its patients.
Wright offers multiple hip
replacement options tailored to fit a variety of lifestyles.
Wright hips are engineered to provide superior performance,
enabling patients to get back to doing the things they enjoy,
free from the discomfort and limitations a deteriorating joint
can cause. Based on your activity level, and other factors, Dr.
Rogerson may determine that one of the Wright solutions, the
BFH® Technology Hip, is right for you.
The Hip Stem
The modular neck feature of Wright's PROFEMUR ® Hip Stem simplifies
implant insertion while reducing the risk of soft tissue damage. It also
allows for adjustment of leg length, version, and offset after the stem
is implanted. The flexibility offered by the modular neck gives the
PROFEMUR® System a key advantage over other stem designs used in
minimally invasive procedures.
The PROFEMUR® Hip Stem coupled
with the BFH® Technology Hip allows Dr. Rogerson to offer his
patients a comprehensive and state-of-the-art option for a truly
minimally invasive hip solution. |

Why BFH®
Technology?
One of the most common and problematic complications for hip replacement
patients is hip dislocation. The BFH® Technology Hip was specifically
designed to significantly reduce this problem.
Whether you're an athlete or someone who
desires to enjoy the simple things in life without being limited by
pain, BFH® Technology may be appropriate for you. Exclusive to Wright,
BFH® Technology has produced a superior artificial hip that is more like
your normal hip anatomy in size and function. In traditional hip
surgery, the diseased hip is replaces with a joint that is smaller in
size, which can make the new joint susceptible to dislocation. In
contrast, the larger femoral head in the BFH® Technology Hip reduces the
chance of post-operative dislocation while increasing range of motion.
In fact, BFH® Technology allows patients to potentially achieve up to a
172° range of motion, compared to 155° to other implants. This extra
range of motion can make a big difference for those trying to return to
a normal, active life.
What makes
Wright's Metal Hip Implant better than other implants?
Hip implants made from all-metal components wear less and last longer
than traditional hip implants that are made of metal and plastic. The
result is a patent-pending metal hip replacement that differs from other
implants by featuring:
- 90% reduction in initial wear.
- 68% reduction in lifetime wear of
the implant.
- a large diameter femoral component
that more closely matches the natural anatomy.
Wright's BFH® Technology is designed to
provide implanted patients with:
- Increased range of motion
- Reduced chance of dislocation
- Reduced wear
This is truly the best of all worlds, in
one hip replacement system.
